The Forward Union session at Red Bull Arts New York was a creative opportunity for us YAC members to have our voices heard and have people be informed about voting. Forward Union is an annual social action fair that brings diverse activist organizations, topical art installations, and public programs together in a safe environment to strive for change. Different organizations have their table and panels in which they talk about what they are currently doing to fix a problem that we are currently facing. Some of the problems included voting rights, healthcare, immigrant rights, and responses to gun violence. Forward Union is a powerful program because it does bring different organizations fighting for different causes together under one roof to fight for a better future.
This is when my group and I were having a conversation with two artists. Their intentions were to have people draw something that showed health and care. This drawing is of that moment because we had some great conversations which changed how I viewed certain things.
