ABOUT YOUTH ACTION COUNCIL
Youth Action Council (YAC) is a year-long youth development program for NYC teens. YAC aims to foster social engagement and creative leadership by and for young people. Structured thematically, YAC connects young people with artists, scholars and activists to explore the intersections of the arts and social justice.
YAC 2018-19 took part in the following events during our tenure:
-
Forward Union Fair (Keynote Speaker)
Forward Union Fair is a free social justice fair bringing together advocates, organizations, topical art installations, and public programs.
-
ArtFuture NYC: Youth Alliance (Co-organizer)
A youth-led college and career exploration experience that brings together a collective of arts based youth councils to provide a day of college and career exploration centered around visual arts and social justice.
-
Youth Voices (Co-organizer)
Youth Voices 2019 is an opportunity for youth groups across the city to design and lead their own forum. Youth will connect, creatively explore topics that shape their worlds, and determine ways to collaborate in the future. This forum is a youth-determined and youth-led process. We invite the participation of youth up to 24 years old.
-
Slip the Tea (Organizer)
Slip the Tea is a youth-only dinner party. NYC youth are invited to join YAC in conversation about social issues they are passionate about, break bread, and make art!
